Rumrill Community Center
Lao Family will create permanent jobs and encourage business investment in West Contra Costa through the redevelopment of the Rumrill Community Center. This mixed-use area is located in San Pablo on a 9,000 square foot lot at 1964 Rumrill Blvd. and has a total of 5,500 square feet available for redevelopment. The Center will include parking on a 15,000 square-foot adjacent lot. The properties border North Richmond, a designated Enterprise Zone.
The project has been designed to foster economic stability through job placement and business development opportunities for low-income and vulnerable populations. The Rumrill Community Center will be a long-term business and job-creation resource that will revitalize and benefit the community by:
-
Creating jobs that pay above minimum wage and provide opportunities for career advancement
-
Fostering greater self-sufficiency in the community
-
Transforming a vacant lot into an attractive, high foot-traffic area
Housing Lao Family administrative offices, the center will also:
-
Create a space for social services, commercial/retail opportunities and community gatherings
-
Serve as a location for educational workshops and voter registration
-
Offer a place for family, early childhood and youth support services
-
Provide seniors with a safe place to meet, socialize, and participate in health, exercise, education and brown bag food programs
