Dear Community Partner,
Lao Family Community Development is approaching our 30th year of helping Northern California’s most vulnerable families transform their lives through education, employment, and capacity building. To celebrate, we are hosting our 30th Anniversary on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at the Cesar E. Chavez Education Center in Oakland. This celebration will consist of an Outdoor Festival and Community Resource Fair intended to raise support and awareness to honor the service that Lao Family’s staff, board, and partners have provided to our diverse community for the past 30 years.
As a current or former partner or peer organization providing excellent service to our community, we would like to invite you to join us as an Exhibitor at the Community Resource Fair during the celebration. This opportunity for partnership is offered at no cost to non-profits, though we do ask for a $25 deposit fee to confirm the presence of your organization. This fee will be returned to you upon participation.
We hope you find this a useful opportunity to reach out to our diverse community for education, client and volunteer recruitment and much more. The Resource Fair will be held during the outdoor festival to educate and inform the expected 1000 participants from diverse backgrounds about your program services and opportunities.
The celebration will feature musical and dance performances from a variety of cultures, free food, a kid’s zone, and educational workshops. Eskinder Negash, Director of Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), and Don Richard Perata, former California State Senator Proterm, are also speaking at the event to present their perspectives on the impacts of new arrivals and the necessities for assistance programs to continue their effort to support these new comers toward integration into American society.
